Product Supply Systems Supply Tank Direct to Filler Through Pump
TORR offers a range of balance tanks and pumps that are integrated with the filler controls to ensure optimum filler performance. Our engineers can help with the selection of the right pump or tank to suit your needs.
Connecting tanks & pumps to fillers
Selecting pump size
The best way to spec a pump for a filler is to slightly oversize the motor and pump and then control the motor with a variable frequency drive (VFD). Variable frequency drives allow you to vary the speed of the pump and tune in the optimum flow rate. TORR Industries can fit our fillers with a VFD drive that can be controlled through the touch screen.
Locating filler in relation to pump
Use a buffer tank at the filler if there is longer product delivery lines. The buffer tank ensures product fill cycle speed by having a small tank and pump at the filler.
Using positive displacement pumps
Positive displacement pumps must be controlled by the filler (relay contacts turn pump on when fill valve opens and shut pump off when fill valve closes.) It is also important to set pump ramp-down to zero if controlled with a VFD drive.
Preferred Product Supply Configurations
Supply Tank to Filler Through Positive Displacement Pump and Filter
Pumped through filter: Positive displacement pump must be remotely controlled by filler (relay contacts turn pump on when fill valve opens and shut pump off when fill valve closes.) It is also important to set pump ramp-down to zero if controlled with a VFD drive.
Remote Controlled Pump Through Filter into Buffer Tank
Pumped through filter to buffer-tank: This supply configuration works well with longer product delivery lines. The positive displacement pump is remotely controlled by filler. The buffer tank ensures product fill cycle speed by reducing supply line surges and high pressures.
TORR Tanks
For wine and most food products TORR offers Pressurized and non pressurized stainless steel food grade tanks that are integrated with the filler.
For oxygen sensitive product TORR recommend you consider using a nitrogen pressurized tank. For aseptic products use an aseptic “A” tank with sterile air or nitrogen.
Pressurized tank
50-gallon stainless steel with level control and modulating inlet valve. ASME certified. CIP spray ball and Integrated with filler controls.
TORR Pumps
TORR recommend that the pump for a BIB filler is mounted on the filler and controlled by the filler. If the supply tank is some distance from the filler or the level varies in the supply tank TORR recommends the use of a Balance tank with level control on the filler.
